September 2015 MNSCUG Meeting
September is already upon us! Kids are in school learning and so shall we! Our next user group meeting will be Thursday, September 24th at 4:30 - 7:00pm at Microsoft's Edina HQ building - 6th Floor, Lake of the Woods and is going to be Automation targeted to end users! SMA (Service Managemnet Automation) and PowerShell will be the main technologies discussed. Please register in advance so we can get a proper count for food and drink.
Ryan Andorfer will be presenting on an automated process he and his team have developed for General Mills for self service initiation and configuration of enterprise application maintenance.
Do you have to do routine maintenance (patch/restart) enterprise applications like Hyperion or Endeca or a web farm? Would you like to be able to do it and only write custom code one time? Would you like to give your platform owners the ability to initiate and schedule this on their own without ever talking to your automation team? Come hear how General Mills has created a self-service tool for automating the routine maintenance of enterprise application environments.
Ryan Andorfer, a Microsoft MVP, will walk you through the solution from end to end, starting with an in-depth description of the problem they were tasked with solving and moving onto the tooling choices they used to solve it (PowerShell / System Center Service Management Automation / SCCM / SharePoint) and how each was configured and setup to accomplish this. You should expect to see and hear about the process used by General Mills for designing automation work as well as see an end to end example of this automation working. There will be code, there will be SharePoint forms and there will be an answer to how General Mills handles the task of automating the routine task of maintaining infrastructure.
Food and beverage will be provided again by Concurrency! A special thanks to Concurrency for renewing as a Bronze sponsor!
Registration is free to the public, but please be sure to sign-up if you are attending so we can ensure everyone has enough food and drink.
See you there!
