August Meeting

Well the summer is nearly over and we'd like to start having regular user group meetings again. Please consider joining us on Thursday 8/21/2008 at the Microsoft Bloomington Office where free food and beverages will be provided. This month we'd like to start off by having Officer Elections. We will then have a presentation / discussion on patching with SCCM. This will involve:

  • Overview of WSUS 3.0
  • GPO settings for Windows Updates
  • Strategies that others are using with Windows Update including with Forefront
  • SCCM WSUS integration
  • Monthly Patch Cycle walk through with SCCM
  • Problems other have seen installing / deploying via SCCM / GPO's
  • Explain some of the differences in using ITMU and SMS versus WSUS and SCCM

Finally, we will have come cool swag to give away this month, including a free (full) copy of Windows Home Server. The only catch is we're doing registrations differently this month. Please use the clicktoattend link at the bottom to let us know if you are coming. This will help with pizza and beer counts, and it's the only way to be eligible for the swag drawings. Rather than send an outlook invite out we will try this registration method. You will have to complete a few questions and register and then register for the event.

Hope to see you there next week. We will try to get back to a monthly or every other month schedule now that summer is winding down. I'd also like to ask for volunteers that have been involved with SCOM if they would consider helping with a future meeting to discuss how your organization has implemented SCOM.
