Software Updates in CM12

I was on the phone yesterday with Jason Githens, the PM for SUM in CM12. I have a number of problems with how ADRs work in CM12 today and after discussion, Jason had me create a few DCRs on Connect to address those concerns. One thing that came up was that I have to manually delete folders from my patch packages today in CM07. So if I go to an IE package, sort expired\superseded, delete the ones not actively deployed, the count of folders in my package source doesn't go down. His lead developer said it should be doing that in CM07. So I submitted a bug for that.

What's cool about CM12 is that a cleanup task will take care of that for you. So long as I don't have a patch deployed, CM12 will go clean it. To easily remove a patch from all deployments, Jason showed me this trick:

Find the patches you no longer want deployed. Highlight them, right-click them, then click edit membership:

Then uncheck any deployments where they exist:

Done. Now when CM does it's cleanup task it'll remove those patches off your source and DPs. Hopefully, I'll find out more about my CM07 bug. Not sure if that's happening with just me or everyone.
